Black market forex trading can affect the cedi – Importers and Exporters Association

The Executive Secretary of the Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana, Sampson Asaki Awingobit is calling on the Bank of Ghana to enforce the regulations controlling the activities within the black market.

According to him, some commercial banks who are supposed to provide customers with sufficient forex rather direct these customers to the unregulated market for the exchange of forex.

This he says if not checked could affect the stability of the cedi.

He therefore urged the central bank to wake up and regulate these illegal operators in the forex exchange market to protect the local currency.
