UTAG holds on October 8th strike.

An intended strike over an adjustment in the Book and Research allowance due members of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has been suspended.

According to the Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Education Kwesi Kwarteng Frimpong, the University Teachers Association of Ghana redrew its decision to embark on a strike on Friday 8th October 2021.

In an interview with the media, Kwesi Kwarteng stated that the Association’s decision is a consequence of an arrangement struck between the Ministry of Education and the Minister of Finance and UTAG.

The strike was supposed to help the University Teachers demand an upward adjustment of their book and research allowance.

Spokesperson for the Education Ministry Kwesi Kwarteng explained that government has shown the needed commitment to increase the allowance hence the U-turn.
