The Ghana Health Service,( GHS) says the country is likely to record 8,000 Covid cases by next week if urgent steps are not taken to enforce the safety protocols.
Addressing the media, Director General for GHS Dr. Kuma Aboagye said we might cross the 8,000 mark in a week’s time.
“If you look at our active cases you can see that chat is quite… the last-second wave we peaked at about 8,000 and if nothing is done urgently in the next one or so week, we might just cross the 8,000 mark.”
He said Ghana is expected to take delivery of some oxygen plants on the 19th of August, 2021 to boost the fight against the virus.
“We have received oxygen plant currently installed at Ga East and so how oxygen challenges have significantly reduced. We expect a lot more oxygen to come in, we are expecting some plants on the 19th of August that will add up to our capacity as far as oxygen is concerned not just for Accra but for the rest of the country.”
Ghana’s active cases as of July 31 is 6,573. Volta, Bono, and Bono East have also emerged as new hotspots for the virus
