Ghana Domain Name Registry (GDNR) in collaboration with the Internet Society Ghana (ISOC) under the auspices of the Ministry of Communication and Digitalization has marked the 2021 INTERNET GOVERNACE FORUM (IGF 2021) in Accra.
The event which took place on the 14th ,15th and 16th July was on the theme, “FOSTERING DIGITAL INCLUSION IN GHANA- THE ROLE OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE ACTORS.
The youth section of the IGF which was on July 15th saw lot of youth in participation to sharing their mind on the theme “developing youth skills to accelerate Ghana’s digital economy.
The main IGF at the Kofi Annan center for excellence on the 16th July brought about some political and private players who shared outstanding note on the main theme “FORESTING DIGITAL INCLUSION IN GHANA THE ROLE OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE ACTORS.
The minister of communication and digitalization Hon Ursula Owusu Ekuful graced the occasion.
In her speech, she noted that the Ministry has offered many opportunity to the Ghanaian and is still doing more in programs
like the Girls in ICT in various places to promote ICT studies,
provision of ICT equipment for schools among others.
She also added that areas with low network coverage will be placed on automatic roam to enhance their network system.
The MP for Ningo Prampram, Samuel Nartey George said, Parliament has had several engagements with the industry players, and in the process of passing a law to deal with cyber criminals.
Meanwhile arrangement for child online protection bill is in progress, as well as, a law to deal with cyber crime locally.
President of (ISOC) Francis Amaning called on the government to empower the youth to create new ideas with the use of the internet because the internet is for everyone.
