A former Deputy Attorney general, Dr Dominic Ayeni has dismissed claims that he was disrespectful to the courts in his critique of the 2020 Election Petition Judgement.
In a 11- page document, he justified comments after the Chief Justice took issue with his views on the CDD platform as a discussant.
Dr Ayine has come under intense pressure since the Chief Justice took issue with his views on the said platform.
In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council, he noted that the Supreme Court’s failure to apply the rules of Procedures as well as the the consistent and continued dismissal of the Petitioner’s application oe reliefs were the basis of his assertion.
Mr Ayine however insisted that, his comments did not attack the Justices who sat on the Petition.
However, the General Secretary of the NDC, Asiedu Nketia has asked the Chief Justice, Justice Anin Yeboah to withdraw his petition to the General Legal Council against Dr Ayine.
He alleges a ploy to silence all legal brains associated to the NDC by the Chief Justice.
He further added that, the NDC will resist every form of tyranny as it undermined the freedom of speech enshrined in the constitution.
He questioned how come all lawyers hauled before the General Legal Council are of the NDC persuasion.
