Residents turn school’s entrance into a refuse dump

Residents of New Dawhyena in the Ningo Prampram district have turned the Dawhyena D/A basic school’s enterance into a dumping site due to the lack of waste bins in the community.

A visit to the area shows that residents dump indiscriminately behind their homes and along the roads. Reacting to this, the assemblyman for the area Moses Nii Kutor, noted that the situation was due to lack of dustbins in most households.

According to him, the population of the area keeps increasing hence the need for waste bins however, the Ningo Prampram district Assembly seems to be adamant about the appeal.

He fears the situation might breed communicable diseases to the student if waste bins are not provided in the area

Some of the residents said they have no option than  to dump anywhere since there are no bins.
