Ace Ghanaian legal practitioner, Dr. Maurice Ampaw, has disclosed that it is legal to have sex at the Age of 16 according to the laws of the country.
He made this remarks during the maiden edition of Mmabunu Mmr3 (Time with the youth) on Ahotor 92.3 FM anchored by Akyena Brantuo Benjamin on Saturdays from 12:00pm to 1:30pm.
The discussion bothered on teenage pregnancy and its associated complications.
Lawyer Ampaw, who was giving legal education on which age the law permits sex, made this revelations. He further added that it is a crime to have sex when you are less than 16years and it is equally criminal for anybody to have sex with such an under age person.
The host of the program, Mr Brantuo, opined that why there can be such a law in our books and yet greater Accra has a record of 10,000 teenage pregnancy in the year 2016 according to the ministry of health, will simply be an issue of lack of enforcement of our laws.
