Former Hearts of oak and Ghanaian International, Bernard ‘Dong’ Bortey, widely referred to as the ‘serial killer’ has joined the many choruses who have vented their frustration, anger, and disgust after Former Ghanaian International Michael Essien publically through a Twitter post he made suggested his full support for LGBT rights in Ghana. Even though he immediately pulled the post off, social media ‘actors’ managed to screenshot the post and several Ghanaians, including members of his family have since backlash him for making such an irresponsible comment in the wake of a heated argument on whether or not Ghana should legalize such an ungodly practice.
Speaking with ‘jay jay’ on Kingdom FM, Thursday morning, he noted that, he doubted when he saw people commenting about the ‘infamous’ post by Essien, because these days a lot of social media actors can create something out of nothing. But upon reading and acquainting himself with realities he was shocked it came from the former Chelsea player who had an enviable reputation.
Even though Essien has come in for a barrage of abuse, Bortey is of the view that his former colleague who he played alongside at the 1999 New Zealand under 17 World cup could be gay and not just an advocate of LGBT rights.
‘’I think we have to check his mind, he has to go under therapy to ascertain his psychological level of reasoning and thinking, or simply he could be gay,’’ Bortey noted.
Bernard Don Bortey is now a football coach who currently coaches Techiman Gold Stars a division two side after calling time on his illustrious carrier.
