Supreme court erred in ruling -Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has caused his lawyers to apply for a review of the Supreme court ruling in respect of the decision against the EC chairperson, Jean Mensah testifying in the ongoing election petition case.

The court on the submission of lawyers for the EC and President Akufo-Addo last Thursday that, Mrs Jean Mensah could not be compelled to testify in the matter.

This ruling was against Former President Mahama whose lawyers argued that, EC boss has a duty to the State and has to testify of her role as a public officer in the December Presidential poll where she served as the returning officer.

In his 32-page application with affidavit and exhibits. Mr Mahama noted that, the Supreme Court erred in law when it affirmed the decision of respondents not to present witnesses in the matter.

According to Mr Mahama, was a miscarriage of justice.

The court is expected to hear his application tomorrow.

Mr Mahama has also prayed the Supreme Court to suspend hearing on the substantive election petition matter until his application for review of the court’s last Thursday ruling is heard and ruled upon.

The court earlier directed parties in the hearing to file their closing addresses by tomorrow.
