ACCRA, Ghana – October 31, 2025 – The Presidency has officially announced an upcoming state visit by the German President, His Excellency Frank-Walter Steinmeier, signaling a significant moment for international diplomacy and bilateral relations.
According to a statement released by the Presidency, President Steinmeier is scheduled to be in Ghana from Sunday, November 2, through Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
The visit aims to deepen the longstanding partnership between the two nations, with a packed itinerary reflecting both ceremonial respect and forward-looking cooperation.
The official activities will begin on Monday, November 3, with President Steinmeier being welcomed with full military honours at the Forecourt of The Presidency. Following the ceremonial welcome, he will hold a private meeting with his host, President John Dramani Mahama.
The leaders will then join their delegations for broader bilateral talks, which are expected to focus on key areas of mutual interest.
“The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening Ghana-Germany relations, particularly in areas of trade, investment, technology, and development cooperation,” the statement noted.
The day will continue with a State Luncheon held in honour of the distinguished guest at the Presidential Banquet Hall.
Later, the German President will pay his respects to Ghana’s history with a guided tour of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, where he will lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
His schedule also includes an engagement with young Ghanaian IT specialists, highlighting the focus on technology and future skills, before he attends a reception at the German Ambassador’s Residence.
On the final day of his visit, President Steinmeier will travel to the historic city of Kumasi.
There, he will perform a sod-cutting ceremony at the Kumasi Technical Institute and interact with the leadership and scholars at the renowned Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
A visit to the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research is also on the agenda, underscoring the shared commitment to scientific progress. The visit will culminate in a high-profile courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace.
President Steinmeier is scheduled to depart Ghana on Tuesday evening, concluding what promises to be a impactful visit for both nations.
