AFCON 2017- Egypt and Ghana move into last semi-finals to play Cameroon and Burkina Faso respectively.
Egypt knocked out Morocco to reach the Africa cup of nations semi-finals as substitute Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim prodded home a dramatic 87th –minute winner. Egypt will play Burkina Faso, who beat Tunisia 2-0 in their quarter-finals on Saturday.
Ghana’s Jordan Ayew grabbed a goal to put Ghana in the lead, but Paul-Jose M’Poku equalised for DR Congo and with a sensational long-range effort from outside the box. Ghana continued to press and were awarded a penalty when Christian Atsu went down in the box after contact from Lomalisa Mutambala , who was lucky not to receive a second yellow card .Andre Ayew then dispatched the spot-kick, sending Matampi the wrong way, to grab his second goal of the competition. Ghana plays Cameroon in the semi-finals.
Cameroon beat Senegal 5-4 on penalties advance to the AFCON semi-finals following a goalless draw on Saturday night. England-based Sadio Mane who was the hero for Senegal throughout the tournament ,became the villain as he spot-kick was save by Ondoa and Cameroon won 5-4 on penalties.
Aristide Bance, came off the bench to put Burkina Faso into the Semi-finals of the AFCON. Bance, who shot to fame at this tournament when the Stallions reached the final in 2013, is no longer a starter for Burkina Faso. But he remains a hugely popular player, and his powerfully struck free-kick just four minutes after coming on was enough to see his country emerge as winners. After some clever running from Prejuce Nakoulama doubled the lead with three minutes to time after skipping between the Tunisian defences and out-running an advanced goalie to fire home to confirm their semi-finals date.
