Greater Accra Concerned Assembly Members endorse NDC Manifesto

Hundreds of elected Assembly Members calling themselves Greater Accra Concerned Assembly Members (GACAM) have welcomed the NDC Manifesto promise to pay them an allowance.

At a press conference held in Accra on Tuesday 22nd September, 2020 at Harvard College, Kokomelemele, Accra, the Group believed that this promise could not have come at a better time as “we express our profound gratitude to the H.E John Dramani Mahama and the leadership of the NDC and its Manifesto Committee for listening to our age long call and making provision for us”.

The NDC in its People’s manifesto pledged to pay each assembly member a monthly salary of at least GHC1, 000, should the party win the upcoming general election.

Delivering the speech on behalf of his colleagues, the spokesperson of the Concerned Assembly Members, Musah Zihad, The Assembly Member for Amamomo Electoral Area in the Accra Metropolitan Assembly said “We find this commitment by the NDC and its Flagbearer for the 2020 general elections, H.E John Dramani Mahama, most welcoming”.

According to him, “we have no doubt that this promise if fulfilled will boost the morale of our members and empower them to build relevant skills to be effective in their duties to the state and their respective communities in particular”.

Together with his colleagues they promised to offer a hand of support to the NDC and its leadership in this campaign and “we wish to encourage all Assembly Members across the length and breadth of this country to come forward irrespective of their political idiosyncrasies and proclivities to support this agenda to give practical meaning to this common and shared aspiration of all Assembly Members to be paid allowances”.
