There’s no democracy in Ghana any longer – Dr. E K Hayford.

Dr. E K Sarpong, the executive director of Centre for Democratic Governance has expressed concern and worry over recent turn of events in the country ranging from lawlessness, acts of violence and ballooning public debt.

Speaking on Ahotorfm morning show, Dr Sarpong indicated that various acts of lawlessness and intimidations which characterised the just ended voters registration exercise take the country back considering the huge reputation Ghana have had in the past

He questioned the motives behind military deployment to various registration centres during the recent registration exercise and condemned the act. According to him, the military has no business going to registration centres to intimidate citizens.

“There’s no democracy in Ghana, lawlessness and violence have become the order of the day, Ghana is known as a beacon of hope in Africa but what’s going on now doesn’t inspire hope at all”

Dr. Sarpong also bemoaned the state of economic hopelessness and the ballooning of public debt.

We are borrowing everyday and there’s nothing to show for, public debt keeps ballooning, what’s going on ? He questioned.
