The Archbishop- General of the International Council of Clergy, Archbishop George Slezer Ofori – Atta is unhappy with the kind of politics being practiced in the country which is never a democracy, but a means of amassing wealth, turning democracy into slavery.
He explained that, instead of using democracy to serve the masses and ensuring national equity, politicians have subverted the system to their advantage draining the vulnerable of every ‘drop of blood’.
He said, later day politicians have become so rich overnight due to their diabolical means, questioning how much wealth they wield before entering into politics.
Speaking on Ahotor 92.3 fm, Archbishop General did not mince words in lambasting the majority of politicians who have turned governance into money making machine.
He said, the whole system has become so porous that the love and loyalty to national service is thrown to the ‘dogs’ with all those who were supposed to hold governance in check have lost their sense of national duty.
He noted the number of professionals who abandon their offices to contest for political positions, as well as some Journalist who are supposed to be gate-keepers, and a watchdog to the government, but such important professions have lost their sense of nationalism to politics with some joining government, including Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.
He enumerated the number of professionals whose service is expected to benefit the nation but neglected their services to join politicians, and wondered the sincerity of such professionals while they were in their professional oaths and offices.
The man of God called on the Electoral Commission to desist from its recalcitrant attitude and listen to the masses, as its actions or inactions could have dire consequences on the masses.
