Some 38 staff of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) have recovered from COVID-19.
This is out of a total of 39 staff who were infected.
The remaining one is responding to treatment, a statement from the FDA has said.
The FDA noted that despite recording COVID-19 cases, it will continue to effectively execute its mandate as a regulatory agency to register and enforce the importation, manufacture, distribution and sale of quality product especially PPE, face mask, sanitisers, medicines, food as well as other medical devices which are now needed more than ever in the vital fight against Covid-19.
As part of the measure to combat the pandemic the FDA organised mandatory testing for a total of 450 staff including all top management members from its head office, Tema office, Kotoka International Airport office, and the laboratory out of which 39 tested positive.
All the 39 staff were asked to go into self-quarantine and those who were in close proximity to them were also asked to do same and were provided with the necessary logistics to do so.
Meanwhile, as at Sunday, 12 July 2020, Ghana had recorded 24, 518 coronavirus cases, 20,187 recoveries with 139 deaths.
