Ex Black Stars coach hoping for a reunion
Serbian tactician Milovan Rajevac has expressed interest in coaching the Black Stars of Ghana for the second time.
The 66-year-old coach enjoyed a productive two-year spell with the Black Stars between 2008 to 2010. During that period, Ghana was ranked 14th best team in the world by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA).
Coach Rajevac, who led Ghana to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2010 and also oversaw a run to the quarter finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa claims he is open to a return should the opportunity present itself once more.
Rajevac who also coached Algeria says, Ghana has been his second home and misses lots of friends he left behind during his first spell.
Ghana has not made any meaningful progress since their heroics at the 2010 World Cup but the Serbian believes the team has what it takes to win the AFCON and progress further in the World Cup.
Popularly called Coach Milo in Ghana, he first won admiration by leading an injury-ravaged Black Stars side to the Afcon final against all odds. His 23-man squad involved eight players from the victorious Ghana team at the Fifa U20 World Cup a year earlier in Egypt.
However, he left his post after refusing to sign a contract extension to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli.
The experienced Serbian has since had spells with Qatar, Algeria and Thailand, but has been without a job since 2019.
