The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has given the government up to the end of today, Tuesday, June 30 to withdraw the military deployment from the Volta Region.

MP for Ho West Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah speaking to the media at Aflao in the Volta Region said, the Voltarians they will take action is the military is not withdrawn.

The deployment of the military in Volta Region has heightened tensions in the region, and is viewed as government’s attempt to intimidate the Voltarians who are deemed as the NDC’s ‘World Bank’, as a ploy to disenfranchise them in the upcoming Parliamentary and Presidential elections in December.

Government’s spokespersons have explained that, the beefing up of the military in the region is to ensure that, non Ghanaians are prevented from registering in the upcoming voter registration exercise.

But Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah believes the explanation is ridiculous and cannot stand to any reason.
