A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Covid-19 response team Dr. Jonas Asamoah, speaking on Ahotor FM has described Ghanaians as joking with the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to him, at the initial stage of the corona virus pandemic we were dealing with contact tracing but now we are at a stage of community spread and students have been allowed to go to school.
Dr. Jonas Asamoah told Emmanuel Martey aka Alaska the Don, host of Ahotor FM’s show dubbed Asem Yi Di Ka, indicated that, the response team of the NDC has given the government some suggestions on measures to put in place in the fight against the pandemic.
According to him they advised government to maintain the online education for students.
Alternatively, both teachers and students should be tested before the reopening of schools, all social distancing protocols be observed and personal protective equipment (PPEs) should be provided for the students and teachers to reduce the spread of the virus since the children are the future of the nation.
In addition the NDC Covid-19 response team suggested that schools must have sick bays with PPEs for protection so that if anyone should report sick, they can be taken care of.
They also suggested that the numbers in various dormitories should be reduced and all social distancing protocols should be observed with isolation centres far from the school compound.
