The Chairman of the Local Government Committee, Kennedy Agyapong said any attempt to implement a quota system to enhance women representation in the house will not work.
According to him , the creation of fair system for healthy political competition would rather bring more women to the fall.
Currently there are 36 females MP in a 275 Members Chamber.
Speaking at an engagement between Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Core Leadership of the house,Mr Kennedy Agyapong said the quota system for women may not work in Ghana.
He further said nobody has a problem with their representation but everywhere in the world, politics is so dirty and rough that most women do not have the courage to contest.
Adding that, whether it is 30percent or not, he agrees with no one has to stop a woman from contesting when attempting, but the terrain is rough many women back off.
