Methodist Bishop, Bosomtwe Ayensu has urge all religious leaders to manage and adhere to the given Protocols for the resumption of religious activities, to prevent being interrupted by any police.
The president, Nana Akufo-Addo in his 10th address to the nation on measures taken against the spread of covid-19 said, with effect from Friday, 5th June, ‘we will begin stage one of the processes of easing restrictions.
“An abridged format for religious service can commence. Twenty-five percent (25%) attendance, with a maximum number of one hundred (100) congregants, can worship at a time in church or at the mosque with a mandatory one meter rule of social distancing between congregants”
“In addition to the mandatory wearing of masks for all persons at all times in church or mosque a register of names and contact details of all worshippers and hand washing facilities and sanitizers must be provided with maximum duration of one hour for each service”
” Religious institutions that are desirous of opening their premises to their members, such as churches, mosque and others must disinfect, fumigate and put in place the requisite logistics needed to guarantee safe opening and operation, they must work with designated regulatory bodies and undertake test runs of the protocols I have out Iined” he said
Bishop Ayensu Bosomtwi in an interview on Ahotor 92.3 fm news added that within the one hour given time, a lot can be done, daily Sundays reading which comes in first reading, second reading and gospel can be reduced to just one reading depending on where the pastor takes his message from, rather than having people come to read one after the other.
Churches who are required to give communion to their members can also adopt a measure for a safe service.
