Replacing Madam Charlotte Kesson-Smith Osei with Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa as the chair for the Electoral Commission wasn’t surprising to many Ghanaians.
The NPP backing the EC to compile a new voter’s register despite the numerous backlashes from some section of the citizenry should also not surprise anyone.
What will be surprising will be the love making between the Electoral Commission (EC), National Identification Authority (NIA) and the ruling NPP in an ovulation period, which makes it very risky at this time of going into the elections.
The Electoral Commission is willing to gather people for registration for the new register in this era that covid-19, is the number one priority for all well-minded countries but our ‘’Anyansafo’’ leaders are backing the idea not taking into consideration what will be the implications.
As stated in Article 46 of the 1992 constitution which governs the country, ‘’the EC shall not be subject to the direction or control of any person or authority to the performance of it’s function except as provided for in the constitution or any other law consistent with it’’
Yes we know, but did the idea of the compilation of a new voter’s register originally generate from the camp of your ‘’lover’’ the NPP that is why they are backing the idea with their last breath?
Catastrophe is when the Lawyer loses common sense and disaster is when our security agencies don’t serve with integrity.
A Deputy General Secretary of a political party called for the brutalization of any citizen who will resist the idea of a new voter’s register compilation.
‘’we will beat you and Blood wiil ooze from your nose and mouth to the extent that you won’t recognize your face’’ is the words from Lawyer Obiri Boahen the Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, the same party who some some suspect is in bed with the Electoral Commission.
‘’Ayawaso West Wougon violence will be just a tip of the iceberg’’ Nana seriously? As a lawyer how many years do you think someone should serve in prison for saying the violence at AYAWASO WEST WOUGON was planned by your party NPP?
The police should have at least served with integrity as their motto says by inviting Nana ObiriBoahen for dome questions for threatening the peace Ghana has being enjoying over the years by inciting people to engage in violence.
The comment from Obiri Boahen should be condemned by all and sundry, with due respect Lawyer, common sense was missing the time those word were coming from your mouth which makes you a total disgrace to the law fraternity.
Ghana Statistical Services postponing the 2020 census indefinitely should somehow open the closed eyes of the EC to drop that new register.
It is said that, the cost of the software and some services for the registration for technology alone for the exercise will cost 80million dollars which our ‘’Anyansafo’’ leaders have the money to do that but the same ‘’Anyansafo’’ ran to the IMF for money despite our economy being robust some few days after the covid-19 showed us how far we are behind as a country.
EC musical chairs of favouritism
Is it true that the EC chairperson Madam Jean Adukwei Mensa is a card bearing NPP member? Will that make it true that she is working in favour of her party? And what will she gain if the country should end up in flames?
Logically asking, between the NPP who won the 2016 general elections with the old register with over 1 million votes and the NDC who lost with that huge margin who should be running away from the current register?
Based on a comment made by the Majority leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu that the NDC will not win any election again if the current register is changed, then am free to say the Electoral Commission is helping the NPP to achieve their dream.
The replacement of the chairperson of the EC immediately the NPP came to power, and now that the EC is suspected to be in bed with the NPP only gives a hint to a voting suppression in the country.
Health officials who are leading the fight against the covid-19 are without Personal Protection Equipments (PPE’S) but Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, Director of Electoral Services at the Electoral Commission says PPE’s are abundant to them for protection from covid-19 when they start to register people for the new register which is clear example of misplaced priorities.
It seems the ruling party is only interested in winning the 2020 General elections than the safety of the citizenry.
The only thing they care is to win the elections when students are home but no measures are in place for them to learn, talk of the virtual learning, what about the poor man at that village who can’t afford a television or a smartphone for his children to join the virtual learning?
The virtual learning seems to favour only the urban areas of the country so who thought of the rural areas with no electricity?
This burden among others is heavy on the nation but the ‘’Anyansafo’’ leaders are busy pushing for a compilation for a new register to stay in power forever.
Exactly what is wrong with the voter register
Electoral Commission is telling all Ghanaians to cooperate with them to compile a new voter’s register for the success of the 2020 elections.
Are they telling us that the 2020 elections will only be successful with a new register? What at all will make the elections unsuccessful when we use the current register to vote?
What at all is wrong with the current register that makes it not credible?
The need of a new register is needed but the timing of the propose new register is wrong, now that covid-19 has made social distancing a norm not to play with.
Let’s vote with the current register and we will have the luxury of time to compile the new register after the elections.
The ‘’Anyansafo’’, we call on them should do us a favour and use their ‘’nyansa’’ to save Ghana from doom.
God bless Ghana our motherland and help us to continue to resist the oppressor’s rule.
