Vociferous football administrator Charles Kwadwo Ntim, affectionately called Mickey Charles has warned that something will happen in Ghana if the Ghana Football Association (GFA) fails to adhere to the cry of the clubs.
“FIFA released this money because we are in difficult times so the Football Association can’t keep the money to themselves…a lot of club owners and administrators are not happy with the current football association president and his executive council. If an election should take place at this moment, they might not get even thirty percent of the vote.”
According to him, the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) operational fund that was released to member associations must be given to clubs in these difficult times.
Mickey Charles who is also president of Techiman City Football Club says, clubs in Ghana are really suffering and this is the time they need help the most. “FIFA released this money because we are in difficult times so the Football Association can’t keep the money to themselves…a lot of club owners and administrators are not happy with the current football association president and his executive council. If an election should take place at this moment, they might not get even thirty percent of the vote.”
According to the Techiman City FC president, they are really monitoring the situation and something will happen to Ghana Football by the end of June this year.
In April, FIFA released an Operational Fund of $150 million for 2019 and 2020 to its member associations as part of a relief plan to neutralise the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The amount was divided among its 211 members with each receiving $500,000.00.
Since the package was announced, a lot of football administrators have suggested that the money be shared among clubs in the country.
