The Health Minister ,Kweku Agyeman Manu has rubbished the call for a lockdown of Obuasi in the Ashanti region,and its environs, as the town records confirmed increasing cases of coronavirus infections.
He was reacting to the escalations figures of the infection.
The DCE, Faustina Amissah and other opinion leaders have called for a lockdown, but the Minister said, there is huge implications in lockdowns, and that should not be the first option.
The residents were gripped by fear and called for a total lockdown adding that, any further delay could escalate the already precarious situation.
They believe further delayed action can worsen the mining’s town’s case count which is currently the highest in the Ashanti Region.
The resident never expected the high confirmed cases and were taken surprised when the results were published.
But the Health Minister says, locking down the entire area is not the first option, and any decision taken would be dependent on the report of experts sent into the affected communities
