Government is too romantic with public education on covid-19 – Atik Mohammed

General Secretary of the People’s National Convention and Convener of the Mass Action Committee(MASS) Atik Mohammed is calling for an enhanced Public education on the impact of COVID 19 in the country.

Atik Mohammed expressed deep worry over the attitude of some Ghanaians who blatantly disregard the health protocols of the Ghana Health Service to curb the spread of the disease.

The PNC General Secretary believes that, in achieving the purpose of the public education, the government must show leadership.

He believes people have not understood the real enormity of the pandemic hence their constant flouting of the protocols.

In a media interaction, Mr Atik noted the weak approach towards the education which rather creates apathy, instead of real knowledge.

‘The reason why we succeeded in the fight against HIV/AIDS is that we made it very scary. The advertisement about AIDS even made virgins feel threatened.” He said.

‘ IOf we get people to understand the full impact of the sickness, they will have clear meaning of the virus. Because they think the virus is just a normal disease which is not serious that’s why the case keep increasing most.

He therefore has called for the enforcement of the law of face masking, and ensure punitive action against those who flought it.

Cases now in Ghana; Confirmed cases 5,530,Recoveries cases 674,Deaths cases 24.
