The Executive Director of the Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA), Mensah Thompson, has alleged on Ahotor FM’s morning show, “Adekye Mu Nsem” that President Akufo-Addo and the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, are intent on tagging the flagbearer of the NDC, John Drammani Mahama with the Airbus scandal. According to Mr. Thompson, all these efforts will bear no fruits.
Matters arising from the Airbus bribery scandal have been lingering on for months now, following series of allegations which many say are aimed at bringing the name of the former President into disrepute.
Government has explained that, the erstwhile John Mahama regime procured some helicopters and army accoutrements for the Ghana Armed Forces to safeguard the borders of the country.
The government of President Akufo-Addo, through the Attorney General’s Department, commissioned investigations into the purchase of the said choppers amid allegations of financial impropriety against the procurement processes for the purchases.
Mr. Thompson in an interview with Ahotor 92.3 FM’s Citizen Kofi Owusu, on Friday morning alleged that elements within ruling have hired the services of a UK based newspaper, the Sun to peddle falsehoods and propaganda against the former president.
There are even more damning allegations that the Special Prosecutor could investigate but has chosen not to but is rather focusing on the Airbus scandal.

He further alleged that, the President and the Special Prosecutor appear to be in cahoots to haul Mr. Mahama before the office of the Special Prosecutor to commence investigations into the alleged scandal.
Mr Thompson said there are other equally damning allegations tht the Special Prosecutor could investigate but has chosen not to but is rather focusing on the Airbus scandal.
So far ex-President John Mahama has remained tight lipped over the Airbus scandal despite calls by some individuals and institutions for him to go public on the matter.
The office of the former President is prepared to neutralise any state sponsored propaganda which will seek to thwart the re-election bid of John Mahama.

ASEPA is of the opinion that, the former president is clean and the NPP’s scheming to discredit Mr. Mahama , will not wash.
The NDC believes their leader for the 2020 polls, will not be detracted from the real issues confronting the good people of Ghana.
Mensah Thompson posits that, the office of the former President is prepared to neutralise any state sponsored propaganda which will seek to thwart the re-election bid of John Mahama.
