Confederation of African Football (CAF) last week sent a communique to all its 56 members to know the fate of the various national leagues and the way forward. In this regard, some national associations have responded by taking swift decisions on their leagues.
In Angola, all 16 teams playing in the Campeonato Nacional de Futebal em Séniores Masculinos popularly called the Girabola have voted unanimously to cancel the league
The 2019-2020 Burkinabé Premier League has also been cancelled with no relegation and no champion.
The Burundi Amstel Ligue was set to resume in June with Aigle Noir Makamba FC the defending champions.
However, the Burundi Premier League which was halted on April 12 due to the outbreak of Coronavirus will resume on May 21, said the President of BFF, Yussuf Moussi.

Neighbouring country Cote D’Ivoire are yet to decide but clubs are being paid for TV and Marketing rights
The 2019-2020 Congo Ligue 1 has been concluded with AS Otoyo D’oyo declared champions as they top the league with 14 points
Dr Congo wants the Championnat National MTN cancelled but the league owners want it to continue with discussions ongoing
Ethiopia Football Federation have cancelled the league with no promotion and relegation. No club will represent them in the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup
Elsewhere in North Africa, the Egyptian Football Association is thinking of completing the Premier League at specified stadia and hosting teams in specified hotels
Guinea have cancelled the 2019-2020 Championnat National League
The Sports Pesa Premier League in Kenya has been ended by the Federation and Gor Mahia declared champions but the league body says no consultation was made so wants to continue and end by July
Lesotho are considering three options for the Econet premier League
i. Season is extended
ii. Matches are played without fans
iii. Cancel the league
CAF president Ahmad Ahmad’s Madagascar have also not been speared with the novel corona virus and the Malagasy Football Federation have agreed with the Orange Pro League to continue once the country’s Lockdown is lifted
In Malawi, the Football Association is sharing funds to support players and staff of the TNM super league but league will be cancelled if it cannot resume by October to pave way for the preparation of 2020-2021 season
Malian Première Division and the Federation have both agreed to continue the Ligue 1 Orange Mali once government gives the approval
West African country Niger’s Football Federation has just cancelled the Championnat National dè Première Division (Championnat D1) with no relegation at all divisions. Defending champions AS SONIDEP will play in the CAF Champions League and US Gendarmerie in CAF Confederations Cup
🇷🇼 Rwanda FA President Sekamana Jean Damascene has held two consultative meetings with Rwanda Premier League & 2nd Division League clubs.
Jean will hold a final meeting with Women’s League Clubs reps before taking final decision on what to do.
East African country of Tanzania’s Football Federation have agreed to resume the Mainland Premier League in June
