The President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo has lifted the 3 weeks restriction on movement in the Greater Accra Metropolis, Kasoa, Greater Kumasi metropolis and its environs.
In view of the spread of covid-19, the President on 15 March 2020 suspended all social gathering, including Church activities, mosques and funerals among others.
The President on 29 March in his address to the nation announced further restrictions of movement in Greater Accra metropolis, Kasoa and Greater Kumasi metropolis when these areas recorded a large number of positive covid-19 cases to help stop the spread of the virus and enhance contact tracing.
Nana Addo in his 7th address to the nation gave an update on measures taken so far against the spread of Corona virus. He also announced the lifting of ban on movement which takes effect on Monday 20 April 2020 from 1am.
He also added that the ban on social gathering still remains in force whiles commercial vehicles, buses and taxis are to reduce the number of passengers.
“As most of the confirmed cases are imported our borders remain closed for two more week” He said.
The President stressed ‘that coming out of the partial lockdown does not mean we are out of the pandemic rather we should adhere to the measures and help stop the spread of the virus’.
