These days are indeed interesting days. Since the outbreak of the corona virus late last year in Wuhan, China, the whole world is on tenterhooks.
From China and other parts of Asia to Europe, across the oceans to Africa and the America’s the whole world is in the throes of the pandemic with infection and death rates rising.
Governments worldwide have laid down instructions and taken measures to curb the spread of Covid 19, the corona virus and here in Ghana, both the government and the opposition have formed committees to tackle the pandemic.
There have been various thoughts expressed on the measures adopted by government and one expects that while government is doing its part, we as citizens hold our destiny in our hands. It is imperative that we observe the measures announced and maintain strict personal hygiene.
WE NEED TO TAKE THIS PANDEMIC SERIOUS.
Here in Ghana, we lack the medical infrastructure to tackle the pandemic. I will therefore urge all and sundry to take ultimate responsibility for their welfare.
If we see what is happening in western countries like UK, Italy, France, Spain and Germany where they have vaguely improved health systems and their systems are crumbling, then we in Ghana have to ensure that we guard against spreading the virus through unhygienic lifestyles and reckless disregard of the laid down instructions.
Finally if you ask my view on whether we need to have a lockdown or not, with over 60 cases in less than three weeks, I say we need to lock down Tema, Accra and Kumasi for the next two weeks to stem the spread!
See you soon.
