Cheques issued out to Black Stars players after AFCON qualifier fails to clear- Ghana FA Exco member reveals
Some players of Ghana’s Black Stars are yet to receive their winning bonus from 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against South Africa and Sao Tome.
Ghana Football Association Executive Council member Nana Oduro Sarfo revealed in an interview indicating cheques issued out to some of the players failed to clear.
The AFCON double header was played last year November with the Black Stars recording two wins in that fixture.
Five months after the qualifiers, the Chief Executive Officer of Berekum Chelsea, stated a challenge from the Sports Ministry resulted to some players yet to cash out their money .
“The winning bonuses for the South Africa and Sao Tome bonus have been paid but there is a problem”, he told Accra based radio station Asempa FM.
Oduro Sarfo despite confirming there has been a challenge with paying out the bonuses he failed to reveal what the challenges were.
“The Sports Ministry has a challenge. Checks have been issued but there is challenge.
“I don’t have the capacity to come and tell the public these challenges. The players have confirmed receiving these cheques but there is a challenge. Some of the players have been able to cash the money and others to haven’t”.
