GHS deepens community surveillance along its porous borders

Emergence of the corona virus is described by the World Health Organisation as pandemic with the reported cases outside China increasing by 13 – fold in two weeks.

Being pandemic, according to the WHO   means the spreading of the diseases is simultaneously around the world .

However, even though Ghana has not recorded an infection there is a strong assurance of State actors that, the country is ready to deal with any infection. But the worry has been that, the deadly disease has no cure yet, so how do we as a nation deal with it.-

According to a source within the Ghana Health Service, more effort is being put in community -based surveillance, especially on our borders; due to porosity .

Ghana is noted of having over 40 unapproved routes along its national boundaries.

Supportive treatment or symptomatic treatment is the agreed form of treatment.

The Director General at the Noguchi Memorial and Research Institute,  Professor Abraham Annan is hopeful that with measures put in place, including ‘quarantine’, the nation is able to deal with all emergencies
