Poor road in Akyem Abuakwa increasing crime with police involvement- Resident

Residents of Akyem Anyinasin  in the Akyem Abuakwa North of the Eastern Region have expressed serious concern relating to the bad nature of their road  network from Old Tafo to Anyinasin, especially where a driver was shot to death by armed robbers

Mr Kwame Anim, Disciplinary Committee Chairman of the Co-operative Union in an interview with Ahotor fm’s Eastern Regional Correspondent, Eric Nyarko said, “the situation is making life quite uncomfortable for the people.

‘I am particularly dissatisfied with the performance of the constituency leaders when it comes to road networking in the constituency’, he said.

Kwame Anim expressed worry about the rate of robbery attacks on drivers and passengers on the Old Tafo–Anyinasin road which he attributes to the bad nature of the road for many years.

The situation, according to the Chairman, has affected the volume of trade within the community as the market women hardly ply the road, even drivers are scared to engage in their daily economic activities.

He therefore appealed to the NPP government and the MP Gifty Twum Ampofo, the MCE Twum Ampofo to help in the construction of their road.

A Trotro driver who is a resident in one of the area specifically (Kukurantumi) told Eric Nyarko that the shooting incident that led to the death of one Mr Tawiah could have been avoided if the road network were good, but still, the leadership of the area does not care.

Azuma Robert, brother of the late Tawiah claims the drivers in Anyinasin are not safe, and suspects  foul play in the police investigation,

‘My brother was not the only person attacked that very day, some people were tied, others were beaten, but my brother was killed just because be mentioned the name of one of the armed robbers.

‘The guy who was tied by the armed robbers can assist the police to trace the robbers but the police are adamant to carry out any investigation, .he claims
