Following the swoop on 3 alleged persons who are under interrogation by the security agencies over an attempt to overthrow the government of President Akufo Addo.
The Executive Director for the centre for Defense and Security – Africa ( CDS ) Yaro Kasambata has urge President Akufo Addo to as a matter of urgency speak to the raging issue publicly of an attempt to destabilize the country via coup d ‘ eta as suggested commentaries by some leading figures in government have impugned.
A team of armed men including related security agents stormed the premises of the citadel Hospital, located at Alajo a suburb in the greater Accra region, over the weekend, and arrested the medical director at the facility , as well as two other accomplices amidst, what the security opined as stockpile of ammunitions and high definition explosives with the objective to unleashed mayhem on Ghanaians and the Presidency.
Speaking further to the matter on ahotor FM ( 92.3 ) Adekye Mu Nsem on Tuesday, Mr. Kasambata noted the statement released by the information minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah revealed some persons have been arrested by the security agencies in connection to the said alleged coup plot.
The security expert similarly explain that, there are standardized modalities to release such information into the public domain and avowed the government must address the issue with more sense of seriousness in order to forestall confidence and trust in the country. He told Kofi Citizen on the program.
He also bemoan the information minister’s statement ought should have been more detailed and apt before gashing the insight story regarding the content of government’s position about the discourse in the public domain, since it have the tendency to cause fear and panic in the system.
The security analyst charge president Akufo Addo to speak to the matter with immediacy since there are best practice, and dynamics in the world where government’s approach such sensitive and human threatening treasonable issues.
Furthermore, he call on government to be proactive and treat the matter with extreme care and caution in order to protect the sovereignty of the country.
Mr. Kasambata retorted that, there are acts on law to sanction perpetuators who wants to overthrow a legitimate and constitutionally elected government as enshrined in the provisions of the 1992 constitution and that, President Akufo Addo must endeavor to address Nation on this subject to calm rising public furore.
Meanwhile, critics by the Akufo Addo’s administration have revealed that, the development is a mere diversion from the rare issues in the country especially the unbridled hardships in the economy.
