Accra-Tema Motorway Project Hits 53% Completion, Targets August 2027 Deadline

The Accra-Tema Motorway project has reached 53 per cent completion, with the contractor maintaining its target of finishing the 19.5-kilometre road project by August 2027.

A.T. Expressway Limited, the company undertaking the project, says construction is progressing, with efforts underway to ensure the remaining works are completed within the scheduled timeframe.

Chief Resident Engineer, Ing. Kwabena Bempong, says the project has the necessary resources and construction equipment to support the continued execution of works, particularly the production and supply of asphalt concrete for road surfacing.

According to him, the availability of these resources is expected to help sustain construction activities and ensure that the road-surfacing phase progresses steadily as the project advances.

However, the project has experienced some delays due to the relocation of utility installations along the construction corridor. The process has affected the pace of work as the relevant infrastructure is moved to facilitate construction.

Despite these challenges, A.T. Expressway Limited remains committed to completing the project by August 2027. The successful delivery of the motorway upgrade is expected to improve road connectivity between Accra and Tema and support smoother movement of people and goods along the busy transport corridor.
