The Lands Commission has begun legal action against state land lessees who have defaulted on the payment of ground rent.
The Commission’s Executive Secretary, Professor Anthony Owusu-Ansah, says the move is aimed at ensuring that lessees meet their financial obligations to the state.
He warned that individuals and entities who fail to settle their outstanding ground rent could face legal consequences.
Professor Owusu-Ansah further cautioned that defaulters found liable may be required to pay interest in addition to their outstanding debts.
He stressed the need for state land lessees to comply with the terms of their leases and fulfil their payment obligations to avoid further financial penalties.
The Commission’s action forms part of efforts to enforce compliance with land lease agreements and recover outstanding revenue owed to the state.
