ActionAid Ghana is calling for collective efforts from parents, traditional leaders, community members and other stakeholders to end child marriage in the country.
The organisation’s Northern Regional Programmes Manager, Beatrice Bije, says all stakeholders must intensify efforts to protect young girls from early marriage and promote their rights.
She has urged parents to prioritise girls’ education by encouraging them to remain in school and acquire the knowledge and skills needed to build a better future.
Madam Bije noted that child marriage remains a major concern because it disrupts girls’ education, limits their opportunities and exposes them to various challenges.
She stressed the need for communities to create a supportive environment where every girl can pursue her education, develop her talents and achieve her full potential.
ActionAid Ghana is therefore urging parents and community leaders to work together to protect the girl child, ensuring that education rather than early marriage becomes a priority for every young girl.
