Ghana’s inflation to ease to 4.8% by end of 2026 despite September rise – IMF

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected that Ghana’s inflation rate will decline to 4.8 per cent by the end of 2026, despite recording a second consecutive monthly increase in September.

The forecast is contained in the Fund’s October 2026 World Economic Outlook, released during the IMF and World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok, Thailand. It suggests that inflation could ease further in the remaining months of the year, following the recent increase in consumer prices.

The September rise has raised questions about the direction of inflation as the year draws to a close. However, the IMF’s projection indicates that the recent uptick may not prevent inflation from declining further before the end of 2026.

The forecast provides an indication of the Fund’s expectations for Ghana’s inflation performance. However, the actual outcome will depend on developments in consumer prices and broader economic conditions in the coming months.
