Lawyer for two of the six suspects standing trial for the alleged murder of a teacher at the Asiakwa Salvation Army Basic School, George Somuah Bosompem in the Eastern Region has said he will challenge the court’s refusal to grant his clients bail.
Six suspects were remanded into prison custody on Tuesday after the prosecutor revealed that they were not juveniles as they had claimed early on.The accused persons are aged between 19 to 22 years, according to the prosecutors.
The six teenagers will re-appear in court on June 25, 2019, as their application for bail was denied by the court.
Their lawyer, Philip Nimo said his clients were not part of the attack.
He has thus indicated that he will contest the court’s decision not to grant his clients’ bail.
“We are still pursuing the matter. There are other avenues and we will go there and look at it and we will get the bail. The most important thing is that the boys were nowhere near the crime scene. It is unfortunate but they are innocent.”
The six have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and murder.
Somuah Bosompem, was killed last week for threatening to report the teenagers, all former students of the school, to the police for encroaching on the school’s land to smoke and also defecate.
