National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Samuel Ofosu – Ampofo staged an ad hoc exit from the peace mediation to disband political vigilantism by the National peace Council on Tuesday.
The NDC and NPP met the peace council over moves for the two major political parties, to dissolved political vigilantism and thuggery in the country, which according to many citizens have become cancerous within the body politics of the country.
The National Chairman opt out from the meeting abruptly and attend to invitation by the Criminal investigation Department, over talks on a purported leaked audio attributed to the National Chairman, Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo which has been going through series of investigations by the Attorney General and the Police for sometime now.
Moreover, Representatives of the NDC subsequently staged a walk out in solidarity with the National Chairman of the Party. Lead legal counsel of the NDC, Lawyer Abraham Amailba corroborated the position by the party, and revealed the development was done in distasteful approach, but hitherto, Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, honoured the call by the CID and excused himself from the ongoing dialogue between the NDC, NPP and the Peace council coupled with the presence of revered and relevant stakeholders with security background. The dialogue was also witnessed by a section of moral society organizations.
Meanwhile, a mutual communiqué on the maiden edition of the dialogue, was read after the close door meeting by Dr. S.K.B Asante, a member of the National Peace Council.
However, the General Secretary of the NDC, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, have expressed various reservations, and matters of breach of confidentiality during the process. He bemoaned their main rivalry the ruling NPP ‘s posturing at the engagement on Tuesday was not accommodating and reconciliatory.
