Update : Construction Of Madina – Adenta Pedestrian walk – way on course

Following public outrage and incessant painstaking deaths on the Adenta highway enclave amidst rampant recorded cases of accidents and commercial vehicles knocking down school pupils on that stretch of road.

The Government of Ghana through the Ministry of roads and transport, as well as the Highways authority decided to re- demarcate an auxiliary lane as an extraneous intersection for a footbridge and a pedestrian path way to ease traffic congestion, and also prevent indiscriminate deaths by hit and run vehicles.

However, the re – engineering of the project which began late 2018 is due for completion, in April 2019 respectively.

Meanwhile, when our greater Accra regional correspondent ( AHOTOR online.com/ 92.3 Fm ) Alvin Acquah went to the site on Tuesday (9/4/19″) to assess the progress of work as the clock tick ahead of the April 31st deadline.

He revealed contractors were on site and fervently working assiduously to ensure a speedy completion of the project. The Madina – Adenta highway serves as one of the strategic road network in the country, linking the eastern and central corridors as well as the greater Accra region.

Our man on the beat noted, the auxiliary construction is near completion ( footbridge and walk paths ), and the site engineers who spoke on condition of anonymity, reiterated they were doing whatever it takes to finish the work on schedule and as directed by the oversight ministry and government.

The facelift spectacle of the Adenta highway will see the road in top shape, amidst the inclusion of many safety measures added to prevent carnages and ease free flow of traffic.

The construction of the overpass is expected to bring finality to haphazard accidents along the stretch, and prevent the wanton disregard for road traffic regulations and vehicular deaths which bedevilled the highway since the inception of the first phase.
