Ahotor FM Organises Free Health Screening Exercise

The Universal Multimedia Company Limited, operators of Ahotor FM 92.3, has commenced a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at giving back to society and supporting the health and well-being of people within its environs.

As part of the initiative, Ahotor FM is reaching out to its listeners and members of the public through a free health screening exercise, encouraging them to prioritise their health and make preventive healthcare an important part of their lives.

Health is essential to the well-being of every individual. Giving back to society is also one of the core values of the company, hence the need to encourage the public to pay greater attention to preventive healthcare as a means of reducing illnesses and improving their quality of life.

Preventive healthcare involves taking steps to prevent diseases, detect health conditions at an early stage, and maintain overall well-being. These measures include regular medical check-ups, vaccinations, healthy eating, physical exercise, maintaining good hygiene, and avoiding harmful habits such as smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.

As of 7:00 a.m., the forecourt of Ahotor FM was already filled with members of the public who had gathered to participate in the free health screening exercise.

Speaking on the “Adekyee Mu Nse” morning show on Ahotor FM 92.3, hosted by Alexander Nana Dogbe in Accra, the organisers explained that the exercise forms part of a partnership between Banahene Specialist Hospital and Ahotor FM to provide free health screening to members of the public on 18 September 2026.

A medical practitioner from Banahene Specialist Hospital, Dr. Odoom, reiterated the importance of early detection of diseases. According to him, early detection can improve treatment outcomes and help reduce the financial burden associated with serious illnesses.

He therefore urged members of the public not to wait until symptoms become severe before seeking medical attention, but rather to make preventive healthcare a regular part of their everyday lives.

He stressed that the health screening exercise is particularly important in helping to identify health conditions at an early stage, especially non-communicable diseases, which may develop without obvious symptoms.

The exercise is therefore aimed at reaching out to members of the public, encouraging them to become more health-conscious and to take proactive steps towards preventing illnesses.

The organisers believe that regular health screening and increased public awareness of preventive healthcare can contribute significantly to healthier communities and improved quality of life.
