Tribute to her husband caused a major stir at the state house earlier today when Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur took the podium to read her tribute to her late husband who once headed the Central Bank of Ghana and lately became the vice president to H.E John Dramani Mahama in 2012.
Mrs Amissah appeared very bitter and angry towards certain elements within our political landscape whom she branded as bunch of hypocrites.
Her insinuations and innuendos have been widely attributed to certain elements in the Npp especially Dr. Bawumiah who publicly vilified and insulted the former governor of BoG. It will be recalled that Dr. Bawumiah took advantage of the former vice president’s calm disposition and subjected him to a lot of public ridicule at the alter of cheap politics and spatial propaganda.
Many of the top apparatchiks of the then opposition party Npp hauled a lot of unsubstantiated and spurious allegations on the former vice president all in the name of politics and surprisingly Mr Amissah Arthur never on any occasion responded to any of those malicious attacks on his person.
Strangely on various social media platforms others have also given a different twist to the outburst of Mrs Matilda Amissah Arthur indicating her anger and frustrations were toward certain elements in her own party, the Ndc who according to them heckled and treated the late vice president with sheer wickedness and overt hatred to the point that even his role as a vice president was being administered by certain personalities reducing him to a mere stooge at the corridors of power.
But per Mrs Amissah Arthur’s own estimation, she couldn’t understand why people to treated her husband with disrespect, wickedness and treachery would turn after his death to project him as an angel, she fumed. It appears that different meanings have been given to her insinuations depending on where one stands in the political divide.
“Is this Ghana? I am amazed by the outpouring of tributes for my husband. So, did they really know him? The treachery against my husband, the mischief, the false accusations, the maligning, deliberate things against my husband to make him look bad… So, I ask did they really know my husband?”
– Rest in peace my hero Amissah Arthur
