I have a 6-year-old daughter with late Deputy NEIP CEO – Kennedy Agyapong

Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has confirmed reports suggesting he has a child with the late Deputy CEO of the National Entrepreneurship Innovation Programme (NEIP).

He disclosed that although he and the dead Stacy Offei Darko were never married, they have a child who recently turned six years old.

The outspoken MP was commenting on circumstances surrounding the death of Stacy Offei Darko in an interview on NET2 TV.

“I have a child with Stacy. In fact she celebrated her sixth birthday just recently on April 5th but Stacy and I were not together. She had her life to live,” he explained.

Mr. Agyapong who said he did not know that the mother of his daughter was dead until he “received a call from Honourable Ahmed Arthur last week Wednesday asking me if I’ve heard about Stacy’s death” said he was alarmed after finding out that she died at Obengfo hospital which is popular for the bad reasons.

He, however, stated that the mother of the late Deputy CEO lied about the actual course of her daughter’s death as she was not down with malaria but went to do a liposuction.

According to him, the Acting General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu actually drove Stacy and another lady to the Obengfo Hospital on a Saturday at the request of the ladies to do fat transfer. They were, however, unable to undergo the surgery that day.

He revealed that “Stacy didn’t die from Malaria like the mother is saying. If she says that it’s wrong because she’s disgracing the doctor as well. According to John Boadu, Stacy complained of excess fat in her biceps and thighs and decided to do a surgery at the Obengfo Hospital. The doctor wasn’t able to attend to her on the Saturday John Boadu drove her and the other lady there but promised to do that on Monday.”

The Assin Central lawmaker who claims the death of the mother of his daughter has inconvenienced him is demanding for justice.

“I need justice for my daughter. I don’t care and I’m not ashamed. The child is now with me. She has to wake up at 5am each day to go to school in Tema. I wouldn’t be doing all these things if her mother was around so I’m concerned. I need justice for my daughter,” he stressed.

Background

The Deputy Chief Executive officer of the National Entrepreneurship Innovation Programme (NEIP), Stacy Offei Darko, passed on at the Obengfo Hospital at Weija.

The proprietor of the hospital, Dr Dominic Kwame Obeng-Andoh, and a cleaner at the facility were arrested and remanded into police custody on Tuesday in connection with Stacy’s death.

The 49-year-old unlicensed medical practitioner, who is facing a charge of murder, is alleged to have performed a surgery on Stacy while the cleaner, Edward Amponsah, is being held for impersonation.

According to the facts as narrated by the complainant, Nana Akosua Animah who happens to be mother of the 37-year-old deceased, Stacy Offei Darko, on May 20, 2018, Stacy went to Dr Obeng-Andoh’s Hospital for a Liposuction and Fat Transfer Surgery, but passed on at about 1600 hours, the next day.

On May 22, based on the orders of Dr Obeng-Andoh, Amponsah the body of the deceased was sent to three different mortuary facilities but was rejected with the reason that her relative must be present before she could be accepted in those morgues.

Amponsah, subsequently, sent the body to the Saint Gregory Hospital Mortuary, at Buduburam, where he falsely presented himself to the Morgue attendant as the biological brother of Stacy and thus authorised that the body is embalmed.

The body was then stored in the morgue without the knowledge of Stacy’s actual relatives or the Police.

Her family, however, got wind of the incident on May 24, and suspecting foul play, they reported the matter to the Police.

When the Police proceeded to the morgue and inspected the body; it found multiple surgery fresh scars on some of her parts.

The body was, therefore, transferred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and the suspects were later picked up by the Police, the Prosecution said.
