The Coalition of Unemployed Private Nurses continued their picketing at the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of health with hopes that their plea will be addressed. Unfortunately, things did not go the way they wished as some of the Nurses sustained injuries as the police attempted to stop them.
Yesterday the Unemployed Nurses started their picketed at the Ministry of Finance as well as the Ministry of Health to appeal for the release of their financial clearance.
Reports indicates that the incident happened today after the Police attempted to lead the Deputy Minister, Tina Mensah out of the premises of the Ministry of Health. After allegedly turning deaf ears to the claims of the picketing Nurses and not attend to them, they decided to beseech her and talk to her only for them to be attacked by the Police who were in possessions of guns and shockers.
Speaking to some aggrieved Nurses after the incident, they explained that they went to the Ministry of Finance and were told their clearance is at the Ministry of Health so they are not leaving until they get their clearance.
“We were there when the Police arrived and they started talking to us to get out of the premises. We comported and we were going out, before we realized the rest of the police pounced on us and they started beating us mercilessly with their guns. Anything they get they were using it on us. We are citizens and we have the right to picket so why should they Police come to beat us”, cried one of the picketing Nurses.
Another man who was part of the group narrated how he got injured. “So we were here, we don’t know what happened and they were just asking us to go out, using shockers on us whiles even the path that was given to us to walk in was just slim. After we went out they just opened the door, slapping anyone they can and using their guns and anything that they can use”
One angry Nurse who got injuries on her cheek and thigh narrated that the Police used canes on her which resulted in her getting the cuts. She is calling on the Police to take her to the hospital or she will curse the Police man who injured her.
Despite what has happened they insisted they are not giving up but rather they will stay there at the Ministry of health until the bones are rotten.
“We call for the enforcement from the Armed Forces to come and see what they are doing here. We are not giving up, we are staying here until the bones are rotten”.
