Two persons were last Saturday night shot dead by armed robbers on the Pigu-Karaga road in the Northern Region.
A third victim, who sustained machete wounds in the robbery attack, is currently receiving treatment at the Savelugu Government Hospital.
The robbers attacked a Kia Rehino vehicle, with registration number GR 626-14, in which the victims were travelling. Upon reaching Pishigu about 9 p.m., the robbers attacked the passengers, killing the driver and his mate instantly.
The deceased have been identified as Mohammed Alidu, 56, and Alhassan Abdulai, 25, the driver and the mate respectively.
Briefing
The Northern Regional Police Crime Officer, Superintendent of Police Mr Kusi Appiah,who disclosed this said no arrest had been made so far.
He, however, said personnel, who were dispatched to the scene, retrieved empty AK47 ammunitions.
According to the officer, the robbers, who had laid ambush, allegedly opened fire at the vehicle killing the two on the spot.
Mr Appiah appealed to the general public, especially residents of the area, to volunteer information to the police to help in arresting the suspects.
The deceased have since been buried in accordance with the Islamic doctrine.
DISEC
Members of the Karaga District Security Council (DISEC), led by the District Chief Executive, Mr Alhassan Yabdow, on Sunday visited the bereaved family to sympathise with them.They later went to the robbery scene to get first hand information about the incident.
