Mahama summons Ebi Bright and TDC CEO Courage Nunekpeku

President John Dramani Mahama has summoned the Managing Director of TDC Company Limited, Courage Nunekpeku; the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Ebi Bright; the Minister for Local Government; and the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources to a meeting over a dispute surrounding an ongoing development project at Community One Site Three in Tema.

The meeting, scheduled for Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., is expected to address the issues surrounding the project and the respective positions of TDC and the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA).

The directive, issued at the President’s instruction on Friday, August 14, comes amid a standoff between the TMA and TDC over the ongoing development and infilling project.

The TMA has directed TDC to halt work on the project, arguing that the development is being undertaken without the required permit.

The Assembly has also cited concerns raised by residents, including the alleged felling of about 50 trees, demolition of structures, encroachment on playgrounds and green belts, and obstruction of access routes.

The dispute has heightened concerns over the development and use of public spaces in the community.

The Monday meeting is expected to provide an opportunity for the relevant stakeholders to address the concerns, clarify their respective positions and determine the way forward on the project.
