Frances Essiam Suspended From Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company

Mrs. Frances Essiam, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company has been suspended following a meeting that went of yesterday between the Board of Directors of the Company.

Yesterday it was reported that worker of the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company did not turn up for work because the CEO, Mrs. Frances Essiam had ordered them to stay at home and not to report for work until they receive a further communication for them to resume work. It is believed that he took this decision to try to stop Board Members meeting that was scheduled to come on yesterday.

Not long after workers refused to turn at for work at the Facility, the Board of Directors of the Company had a meeting passed a resolution for the CEO to step down for Investigations into allegation of corruption and procurement practices tagged with her to be conducted.

The Executive Secretary of COPEC, Duncan Morgan in an Interview on Class FM stated that they want Frances Essiam to be compelled to open the office as he strongly frowns against giving too much power to one person.

“I do not think the CEO should be given unilateral power to close down the facility. Indeed Per our checks, messages were sent that people should stay at home”. Mr. Duncan continued this is not the way forward for a company because people cannot just be staying at home and not working if they are going to be earning salaries at the end of the month.

He Added, “If board room wrangling are enough for a CEO to shut down a national facility such as Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company, one is wondering whether indeed the powers of the CEO is not becoming rather too much”.

He also disclosed that there is some politics underneath what is going on but they are not bothered. He however believes that as far as wasting of our national assets are concerned, then the national security needs to step into the matter.
