The Government has announced a temporary reduction in the regulatory margin on diesel by GH¢2.00 per litre for one month as part of measures to cushion consumers against rising fuel prices.
In a press statement, Government said President John Dramani Mahama issued the directive in line with a Cabinet decision and following the successful intervention implemented in April 2026. The measure is intended to reduce the impact of higher fuel prices on consumers, ease transport fare increases, contain inflationary pressures and lessen the effect of fuel costs on the overall cost of living.
According to the statement, the reduction will take effect from Tuesday, August 4, 2026, and will remain in force for one month unless otherwise reviewed by Government.
Government said it will continue to closely monitor developments in the international energy market and implement additional policy measures where necessary to protect the interests of Ghanaians and sustain the country’s economic recovery.
