ACCRA, Ghana, 28th July: President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, on Tuesday warmly welcomed his Gabonese counterpart, H.E. President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, to Accra for a three-day official state visit aimed at deepening bilateral relations between the two countries.
Shortly after arriving in Ghana, President Nguema visited the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to pay homage to Ghana’s founding President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
The symbolic visit underscored the enduring ideals of Pan-Africanism and the shared vision of African unity that continues to inspire cooperation between Ghana and Gabon.
President Mahama later received President Nguema at the Jubilee House, where the two leaders held bilateral talks focused on strengthening trade and investment, enhancing security cooperation, and advancing their shared commitment to regional integration and a more prosperous, united Africa.
President Mahama expressed his appreciation for the visit, describing it as an important opportunity to further deepen the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Ghana and Gabon.
The day’s official engagements concluded with the signing of a joint communiqué, closing remarks by both Heads of State, and a ceremonial tree-planting exercise, symbolizing the growing partnership and enduring friendship between the two nations.
To cap off the first day of the visit, President Mahama will host President Nguema at an official state dinner in his honour.
President Nguema’s official visit continues on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, with additional engagements expected to further strengthen ties between Ghana and Gabon.
