Mrs. Sarah Pinto, wife of the deceased Business man, Mr. Isaac Pinto placed an injunction on her husband’s body after the husband’s family took the decision to bury her husband without her involvement.
According to Mrs. Pinto the husband died on October, 18 2017 and arrangements were made to give him a befitting burial as tradition and custom demands in December 2017 but this did not materialize because of the brouhaha between her and the late husband’s family.
In a discussion on Ahotor FM’s morning show with Onantefour Addea Mununkum, she avowed that the husband’s family had neglected her in the funeral arrangements and meetings for the late husband.
The late husband’s family per their own assessment does not recognize Mrs. Sarah Pinto as the wife of their late family member, simply because she had a short separation with the late husband.
According to the late husband’s family, they do not regard her as a wife simply because she and the husband separated for two years.
Mrs. Pinto explained stating that she and the late husband separated for two years but fortunately came together as husband and wife for eight years before the death of the husband
“It is very true that my husband and I separated for two years but we came together and stayed as husband and wife for eight years before his sad demise. My late husband was rejected by family members even at a point of death but I took care of my late husband with support from some few friends” Mrs. Sarah Pinto who lived with the husband and daughter at Ashiaman Official Town stated.
Describing her reasons for putting an injunction on the funeral, Mrs. Sarah Pinto stated that she is a legally married wife to the late husband and as per the laws and customs of the land she should be involved in all the processes till the late husband is put to rest.
Mrs. Sarah Pinto accused the late husband’s family for assaulting her and forcing her to leave the matrimonial home. According to her, they demanded keys to the house, bank notes and other properties belonging to the late husband.
“My husband was mentally ill and couldn’t do any major work during his stay in the hospital but fortunately we were able to survive through this difficulty. This probably may be the reason for my late husband’s family eluding that I was given fortunes by him”
“I decided to put a court injunction on the body simply because my late husband’s family has decided to sideline me in the funeral proceedings” She stated
Mrs. Sarah Pinto in her narration stated that she was outraged by the family’s decision to recognize an unknown lady as the late husband’s with instead of her.
“I will only take off the injunction if my late husband’s family gives me the due recognition as the wife. I can categorically state that my life is under threat and I keep getting threat messages from unknown people”
“I am not in any conflict with my husband’s family, I simply want the due process to be done”, she concluded
