A group calling itself the Democratic Youth Alliance (DYA) has taken a swipe at President Nana Akufo Addo over the suspension of the deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Hon. Enam Pius Hadzedeh over his alleged involvement in fraudulent visa issues in Australia.
The embattled deputy Sports Minister, attracted a penalty of suspension over a purported Visa racketeering scandal as well as issues of impersonation which marred the airlifting of about some fifty self – acclaimed ‘fake sports journalists’ who had their visas revoked by the Australia authorities after they attempted entry but were gate crushed and deported to Ghana.
Subsequently the allegations flooded various social media platforms amidst publications with assuming and cogent evidence.
President Nana Addo was left with no option than to revert the development to the national security outfit for investigations and directions.
President Akufo-Addo’s decision to constitute a painstaking investigation into the said scandal was occasioned by widespread condemnations by various pressure groups as well as opposition political parties and other well meaning citizens.
The issue which unearthed some weeks ago has since gained international attention with critics chiding the government of Ghana, sports ministry as well as the directorate of the sports authority.
Similarly, a section of the public expressed shock to the marrow after a presidential communiqué surfaced in the media about the suspension of the deputy minister of sports pending investigations into the said allegations.
Meanwhile, a pressure group from the Volta region called the Democratic Youth Alliance has expressed rage over President Akufo-Addo’s decision to reprimand the embattled minister.
They lament the situation where the President always sacrifices persons of either the Northern or Volta decent at the expense of ministerial figures from the other of the country. A culture they bemoaned as preposterous.
The group accused Nana Akufo-Addo of creating divisions amongst regional and ethnic paths by way of such incendiary actions.
They described the action as unfortunate and called on the President to constitute a commission of enquiry similar to the Brazil debacle under the tutelage of former President John Drammani Mahama’s regime.
The group quizzed why President Akufo didn’t sanctioned the substantive Minister, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah but was quick to demand an immediate suspension of his deputy, Hon Enam.
The President of the group Bismark Newton Haduvorsa , chronicled several ministers’ of state who have been accused of flouting diplomatic immunities during their line of duty but finds themselves at post again.
He cited Finance minister Kenneth Ofori Atta, Trade minister John Allan Kyeremanten and deputy Kinsley Ahenkora, Alfred Obeng of BOST, as persons who have been fingered for varying degrees of corrupt practices, but have remained at post even when investigations were still being conducted to unraveled the truths.
He avers the Minister is non Akan hence such treatment being meted out to him, and intimated the posturing by the president is vicious and nauseating.
They also revealed that, many others too, are labeled as being engaged in fraudulent acts of potential conflicts of interest but have since been at post and carrying on with their constitutional mandates as performing ministers of state.
The group further stated, their press release is in response to the mediocrity and judgmental deficiencies being exhibited by president Nana Addo and his henchmen in government.
He fumed the government is only mirroring a window dressing approach to stem the endemic corruption rooted in the Akufo-Addo’s administration.
